Job Interview Sample Questions

It's very helpful for you as a job seeker to be aware of the typical job interview questions. By reviewing the questions beforehand and thinking of the best possible ways to answer you can reduce your stress level that a job interview can bring.

Here we have gathered some generic job interview questions and also possible answers. Remember to always answer truthfully and only give answers that apply to you. Read on.

Q: Why are you applying for this position?
A: Tell what in particular drew your attention: you see opportunity to develop and learn something new, you see possibilities to build a career, you are interested in this company, you found the tasks interesting.

Q: Why should we hire you?
A: While your personal characteristics, qualifications and skills are important, it's even more important to explain how the company benefits from those by selecting you. Tell examples that are relevant for the company.

Q: What motivates you?
A: Personal achievement and working hard toward own goals. Challenging tasks and reaching results. Learn new things with tasks that take me out of the comfort zone.

Q: What would be three words that your colleagues at work would use in describing you?
A: Intelligent, team-player and responsible; Competitive, goal oriented and leader; Passionate, cooperative and humble.

Q: What are your weaknesses?
A: It is important to tell your weaknesses honestly. Tell ways in which you are trying to develop better in this respect.

Q: What do you think is your greatest achievement so far?
A: Your achievement can be something from your education, or even from private life. It is important to explain why you chose to emphasize precisely this achievement.

Q: Do you interact well with people?
A: Tell examples of good cooperation cases, what your role has been in the group, and how you helped a group thrive.

Q: Do you prefer working independently or in groups?
A: Your preference could be to work in groups. To be a good team player you have to be cooperative and open minded. Some achieve results better while working independently or at most with a single partner.

Q: How do you handle stress?
A: Tell a situation where you have noticed the stress, what happened and how you have handled the situation. Describe clearly the way you experience stress.

Q: Tell a conflict situation where you have been involved, and how you handled it.
A: Describe the conflict situation, the events that led to it, and the solution to it. It is important to highlight your role in resolving the conflict, and what you have learned from it.

While these questions can give you some direction, remember not to limit your preparation to this list of generic questions. Good luck with your interview!
