TAT - The Astonishing Tribe part of Research in Motion is creating user interfaces for BlackBerry mobile phones and tables. In our office in central Malmö we work with concepts, interaction design, visual design, application development and further development of our core technology. We continue to grow and our Advanced User Interface team is now looking for an exceptional manager to work on a next-generation UI framework.
This is a leadership position at our office in Malmö, Sweden. You will work on a framework that will enable tens of thousands of developers to create groundbreaking applications for BlackBerry smartphones and tablets. This position oversees the analysis, design, programming, debugging, and modification of device software; analyzes and investigates applications engineering tasks and prepares design specifications, analysis, and recommendations. The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:
- manage a team of mid-level Software Developers working on the next generation UI framework
- own the end-to-end development effort (requirements, architecture, design, unit test, system integration and development schedule)
- be continuously proactive in evaluating and proposing adjustment for the product and/or process requirements against the product objectives and evolving market requirements
- provide input to financial budget for the functional area
- coach and support direct reports for career planning, development and performance purposes
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors of Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- Minimum 7 years of product development experience
- Minimum 3-4 years of people management experience
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, re-factoring and multi-threading
- Practical experience using Agile methodologies to deliver products
- Demonstration of strong management skills and an ability to engage employees
- Drive for perfection. Must be extremely detail-oriented and treat your work as a craft
- Creative thinking. You ruminate on problems until you have a simple and elegant solution
- Ability to clearly communicate concepts to engineers, designers and product managers
